An invitation to Gods Mercy

“JEZU UFAM TOBIE”, didn’t quite get that? Ok. How about now – “JESUS I TRUST IN YOU”. This is one beautiful prayer millions of people in the world make every moment. This came to us as a signature on the picture of the Divine Mercy through St. Maria Faustina Kowalska of the Blessed Sacrament (1905–1938). Let us take a meditative tour with St.Faustina and Merciful Jesus into this beautiful prayer through her notebook Divine Mercy in My Soul.

It was in 1931 that St. Faustina had the vision of Jesus as the Divine Mercy in a white robe and the red and pale rays from His side. Jesus asked her to have this signature always in the picture (#47 & #327). Jesus says about this picture with the signature “I am offering people a vessel with which they are to keep coming for graces to the fountain of Mercy. That vessel is this image with the signature, Jesus, I trust in You” (#327). How beautiful an explanation of Divine Mercy as a vessel offered by Jesus to the souls. This vessel is offered for all. In other words, the Divine Mercy was opened for all no matter who and what one is. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.
Indeed , God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world but in order that the world might be saved through Him” (Jn3:16–17). All are welcome to the fountain of the Mercy of God. “… that I am Love and Mercy itself. When a soul approaches me with trust, I fill it with such an abundance of graces that it cannot contain in them within itself but radiates them to other souls” (#1074). Yes, when we approach the merciful Jesus we will be filled with graces.
Approaching the Merciful Jesus is, having confidence in the Mercy of God the Trinity. It is so intense that the soul has confidence in the Merciful God even when there is no reply from Him (#69). It is a never-ending hope in the Mercy of God that the soul will never be deceived or disappointed. The best expression of this is worshiping Jesus in everything, not just in joyful moments alone but also in sorrows.
A soul who is approaching the fountain of Mercy opened up on the Cross is also approaching the fountain of graces (#327 & #1074). Such a soul imbibes all that Jesus won on the Cross for humankind – forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Nothing can disturb that soul because it is engulfed in His Mercy. It has no fear of punishment of sins; no more fear but love for Merciful God.
A soul praying ‘Jesus I trust in You’ is appealing to Jesus in His Mercy to “… hide me in your Mercy and shield me against everything that might terrify my soul. Do not let my trust in Your Mercy be disappointed. Shield me with the omnipotence of Your Mercy, and judge me leniently as well” (# 1480). All who invoke the Mercy of Jesus with complete trust in Him will be protected in His Merciful Heart and they will never be disappointed.
St. Paul as he has received the Mercy of God (I Tim 1:15–16) and has become the object of Mercy (Rom 9:23) tells that God’s Mercy leads souls to repentance (Rom 2:4). Repentance is a coming back to God; a returning to Creator, into a love
relationship which is broken in sin. That is, a soul who invokes the Mercy of God is led to a close relationship with God. Trust in the Mercy of God and you will reach God, your ultimate destination.
Let us invoke the Mercy of God, every day praying that beautiful chaplet of Divine Mercy to enjoy everlasting peace
